Brianna McQuistine Gleason

Brianna McQuistine Gleason, Miss Southwest Michigan 2018, is excited, as a family that has been impacted by Congenital Heart Defects (CHD), to bring support and awareness to this cause. She wants to be able to help others using the process of information and understanding, by having the opportunity to lend a hand to others that may be in the same situation.
The main focus of the platform is on awareness. Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defects. Nearly one of every 100 babies is born with a CHD. CHD’s are the most common cause of infant death due to birth defects. Brianna wants to spread the word that there are others who want to help and that understand.
To emphasize the importance of awareness, she has joined forces with the American Heart Association, and the Children’s Heart Foundation. She believes that by raising awareness and funding for continued research a cure can be found.
Brianna is a 2016, graduate of Brandywine High School in Niles, Michigan. She is currently enrolled in Southwestern Michigan College pursuing an elementary education degree with a minor in early childhood education.
Brianna wants to let those dealing with congenital heart defects know that they are not alone. And, sometimes the littlest feet can really leave the biggest imprints on your heart. Even if it’s
an open ear to listen to their concerns and worries. Having had the same types of experiences helps more than they know.
Brianna is excited to begin her year as Miss Southwest Michigan. Her goals are to be the best role model and show grace and positive energy to those that she may come in contact with throughout her reign. She is looking forward to a year of fun with dedication and hard work fundraising, volunteering and bringing awareness to, Little Feet, Big Imprints.

Hobbies: Cheerleading, gymnastics, soccer, musical theatre, spending time with my family; especially camping and traveling. Reading and relaxing.
Accomplishments: Miss Southwest Michigan 2018, Second runner up to Miss Apple Festival 2016, Exceptional citizenship award 2016, Niles Haunted House Scholarship, 13 years competitive cheerleading with national titles, 4 year varsity for track, football cheer, basketball cheer, and 3 year varsity soccer.
